Several Emporia streets will close beginning Monday, Oct. 28, as the city starts construction on a significant waterline improvement project expected to continue through fall 2025.
The Prairie Street and 15th Avenue intersection will close in all directions for approximately three weeks, weather permitting. Multiple detours will be in place:
The project includes installation of approximately 12,600 linear feet of new water mains ranging from 6 to 24 inches in diameter, along with 33 new service lines and related equipment.
City officials urge drivers to use caution in construction zones, follow posted traffic control signs, and seek alternate routes when possible.
Residents can download the MyAlerts app for project updates. Questions can be directed to the City Engineering Department at 620-343-4260 or [email protected] during business hours.
