A Vacant Joliet House, An Air Compressor, A Burglary Arrest: JPD | Joliet, IL Patch

Nov 06, 2024

JOLIET — For the fourth year in a row, 34-year-old east side resident Kendale Coleman finds himself lodged inside the Will County Jail, this time because Joliet police say he committed a residential burglary, criminal trespass, and he had an outstanding Will County arrest warrant for an aggravated robbery crime.

Coleman is not getting out of the Will County Jail this time. A resident of Joliet's 500 block of Third Avenue, Coleman was booked into the jail this past Friday, and he's staying there.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following sequence of events led to Coleman's latest arrest:

At 4:18 p.m. on Friday, the officers responded to a house in the 500 block of Water Street for a burglary. Officers learned that an owner of a vacant home being remodeled arrived at the home and discovered Coleman inside the house.

Coleman exited the house through a window and walked away. It was determined that Coleman then returned and entered the same house. Coleman was seen this time stealing an air compressor from the home by the owner. When Coleman left the area this time around, the officers located Coleman near McDonough Street and South Chicago Street a short time later and he was placed into custody without incident.

Coleman did not have permission to be in the home, Joliet police advised. Officers determined that Coleman held an active Will County warrant for Aggravated Robbery.
